All Natural Skincare Routine - SD in "Remission"

Today I finally have an updated skincare routine!!

My skin is/as:
Dry
Acne-Prone
Seborrheic Dermatitis

For those of you that don't know, I developed Seborrheic Dermatitis in May of last year, was diagnosed in July, and went completely Gluten Free in September. I have added quite a few supplements to my routine - Caprylic Acid, Probiotics, Calcium, more recently Zinc - and they play a huge role in keeping my dermatitis under control. I have been gluten free since then, and noticed my skin getting better around December, and now, in May, it is completely back to my normal, soft skintone. If you want to see the very minimal super natural products I used when I had dermatitis (great for extra sensitive skin) here is my video.

*I find my skincare routine is great for cell regeneration/fast turnover time. My Dr. Sponge, the LBF oil, raw shea butter, and tea tree and lavender all help to make active breakouts leave faster, and they all help with any hyper-pigmentation left over.
But now since my face is back to normal, I've been loving using new products since I was deprived of that all last year!

Read below for my routine! For now - the quick list + prices:

 Reusable cotton pads - $10/30
George's Aloe Spray - $5
One Love Organics Morning Glory Serum - $29
La Bella Figura Barbary Fig Renewal Serum - $125
One Love Organics Vitamin C Serum - $68
Goddess Garden Body Sunscreen - $15
Organic Jojoba Oil - $9
Nourish Organics Cleanser - $15
Dr. Sponge Charcoal - $8.50
Mychelle Harmony Cleanser - $10
Farm to Girl Raw Shea Butter - $8.95
Acure Eye Cream - $16-19
Andalou Chia Seed Scrub - $12
Devita Mud Mask - $18-24
Osmia Spot Treatment - $20
Oh Sudz Drying Treatment- $7.95
Organic Tea Tree/Lavender Oil - $8.59

Morning:
In the morning, I wipe down my face with one of my reusable cotton pads sprayed with George's Aloe Spray. Then I apply some oil to lightly moisturize - I've been using my La Bella Figura Barbary Fig Renewal Serum lately. For sunscreen I've been using the Goddess Garden Body Sunscreen I got in my Vegan Cuts box. Then I follow with my One Love Organics Morning Glory Serum to prime my face - it makes an AMAZING makeup primer!

Night:
My nighttime routine is much more extensive. I take off my makeup with organic jojoba oil and one of my reusable cotton rounds. Then I will do a 2-step cleanse - first with a lathering cleanser, then with my cream cleanser. I'll either use some African Black Soap, or my Nourish Organics Cleanser (Review) if I'm in the shower. Then, I will put some of the Mychelle Harmony Cleanser on my Dr. Sponge Charcoal and cleanse with that for up to two minutes. I scrub my face every other day with my favorite Andalou Chia Seed Scrub, or if I want something a little more gentle (if I have a lot of active breakouts), then my Devita Gentle Aloe Scrub. (Review on both)

For a mask one or two times a week, I will use my Devita Cappuccino Mud Mask.

After I finish cleansing, I will spray with some George's Aloe and while my face is still almost dripping wet, I apply my La Bella Figura Barbary Fig Renewal Serum or the One Love Organics Vitamin C Serum. This ensures I use much less product than if my skin were dry, and applying an oil on damp skin allows the oil to lock in the moisture. After my face slightly dries, I will take a blueberry size amount of my Farm to Girl Raw Shea Butter, rub it between my hands until it melts, and press gently onto my face.

I then apply my Acure Eye Cream that I've been using for about a month. It comes in a huge bottle, but you only need the tiniest amount. It is quite thin, so it applies easily without tugging. Overall I'm not a huge fan though.

To treat acne, I will always apply a mix of organic tea tree oil and lavender oil (I use the Desert Essence Mix) , and jojoba to my scars and active blemishes. Then, a few hours later, I will spot treat with my Oh Sudz Drying Treatment, Organic Tea Tree/Lavender Oil, or the Osmia Spot Treatment, which I've recently been trying again.

Have you tried any of these products? Will you pick any up?

Sample Report: One Love Organics

I bought the One Love Organics Trial Pack a few days after Christmas when I saw that it was only $4.95! It had free shipping when I purchased it, but now I think there is an additional $5.95 shipping. Soon after I also purchased the Elizabeth Dehn for OLO sample kit, so I'll be talking about both! Watch my video here.

The original set comes with 5 items, and the Dehn kit comes with 4. The website says they are single use samples, but both oil samples have lasted me OVER a month of using them once a day.

Find everything at One Love Organics or Beautysage

Original Kit

Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser
-I decided not to try this one, because I'm not a fan of lathering cleansers and my skin can be so finicky with them.
Purchase the full size? No.

Brand New Day Microderma Scrub and Masque
-This stuff smells AMAZING. Like Hawaii and pineapples and flowers and sun. This is the new advanced formula, which doesn't have baking soda or milk anymore. I mixed this with honey for a mask, and I left it on for over an hour - got distracted online - and my face was SO soft afterwards. As a scrub, though, I'm not a fan. It was too abrasive for my sensitive skin, and left it irritated.
Purchase the full size?  Possibly - I like it as a mask.

Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm
-Unfortunately I didn't get to try this because I'm almost positive I'm allergic to mango, but I believe this is their #1 product. It can be used as a makeup remover, cleanser, moisturizer, etc! I think that's fantastic for a multi purpose balm.
Purchase the full size? No.

Morning Glory Brightening Complexion Booster
-I love the texture of both the serums in this set. This is a subtle green color, and it has Raspberry leaf, date extract, peppermint, lemon balm, and more. The real test is when I used something my dermatitis didn't like - my skin flared up - and the next morning this calmed my skin down dramatically. Unfortunately, it doesn't smell great in the bottle, and Aaron said my face smelled like metal when I had it on my face :(. However, I love what it does for my skin.
Purchase the full size? Yes - I've already purchased the $29 discover size

Love Springs Eternal Youth Preservation Serum
-This is the product I used for the most consecutive days in a row. I really, really wanted to love this product because I've heard such great things about it. I think if I were showing more signs of aging (I'm not complaining that I'm not!), this would have made more of a difference for me. I like the scent - it smells like fresh roses - and it applies wonderfully. It is very moisturizing - I was able to just use this and my Episential Cheeky Salve on my dermatitis at night. However, it didn't give me the 'Wow - my skin looks great' look and feeling when I woke up the following morning like the La Bella Figura Barbary Fig Renewal Serum does. I also have a feeling it might be breaking me out. (Downsides of trying multiple products at once - which one is breaking me out?!)
Purchase the full size? No.

Elizabeth Dehn Kit

Vitamin D Active Moisture Mist
-I didn't try this one, because the same size is quite small to tell if it would even do anything, but I suspect this would be great for my dermatitis because it has aloe vera and mushroom extra.
Purchase the full size? Probably Not

Vitamin B Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover
I also didn't try this one because I'm allergic to papaya, but I've heard a LOT of great things, and it smells amazing.
Purchase the full size? No.

Vitamin E Eye Balm
I really love how thick this stuff is. It works well at moisturizing the undereye area, but doesn't do anything for dark circles.
Purchase the full size? Possibly.

Vitamin C Serum
This is my second favorite product after Morning Glory. I LOVE this stuff, and if I wasn't using the LBF Barbary Fig Renewal Serum, I would be using this. It took care of recent acne scarring and left my face super soft. I talk more about it in my review video.
Purchase the full size? Likely in the future!

Skincare Routine/Sample Update!

A lot of you are interested in how my skincare trials are going with trying out some samples from La Bella Figura, One Love Organics, and Pai Skincare. I am going to have a separate post and video for each sample kit, but I wanted to share my findings thus far and what I'm loving. So, I thought I would share my current morning and evening skincare routine.

Morning:
George's Aloe Spray
One Love Organics Morning Glory Serum
Pai Skincare Chamomile + Rosehip Moisturizer
Episencials Cheeky Salve

Night:
Coconut Oil (to remove makeup)
Devita Mud Mask or Nourish Organics Cleanser
La Bella Figura Barbary Fig Renewal Serum
Episencials Cheeky Salve

So - I've been using the Morning Glory serum in conjunction with the Pai Moisturizer for about a week - my Honeybee Gardens powder foundation looks FANTASTIC over them together. Absolutely smooth, lasts all day, amazing. I wanted to see if just one of them would give the same effect, and they don't.

Then, yesterday, I decided to try the Geranium and Thistle Moisturizer by Pai, with my Sea Buckthorn Oil, to see if that combination would leave my face smooth as well. As soon as I applied the moisturizer, my skin started to itch and my dermatitis started to get inflamed. Mini "boils" started to form, but I went with it anyway. I found out later that the thistle is derived from Safflower Oil, which has an oleic acid content of 75%+. High oleic acid contents can worsen eczema and dermatitis because they make bacteria fester. To make matters worse, I looked at reviews later on MakeupAlley of the moisturizer, and a few people said it made their eczema worse too.

At first I was doubting that the OLO Serum and Pai Moisturizer were really doing anything, but after yesterday, I notice how much less red my face looks, and how calm my dermatitis is when I use both products together. They work together as a tag team to calm inflammation. I'm almost definitely going to purchase the discover size Morning Glory ($29), but I'm hesitant to spend $60 on a moisturizer that doesn't have SPF.

To treat my inflamed, red face last night, LBF Barbary Fig Renewal Serum came to the rescue! I knew I loved this serum before, but when I tested its ability to calm my super inflamed dermatitis, it blew me away. My rash went down 3/4 the size of what it was the previous night. I'm more amazed with this oil every day, and I'm almost positive I'm going to spend the $125 on it.

Skincare + Food Haul! Lucky Vitamin, Samples

Haul time!
Here's a mini review of everything and some links.

Lucky Vitamin
King Arthur Pancake Mix
Enjoy Life Cinnamon Roll Bars (First impression is in the video!)
Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Granola
Mighty Leaf 'Detox' Tea
Caprylic Acid Pills (Talked about them here)
Ecos Magnolia + Lily Detergent

George's Aloe Spray - $4.77
-I use this on a cotton pad in the morning to refresh my face instead of washing it. Very multipurpose!

Episencial Cheeky Salve - $8.99
-Get this stufffff. It's amazing and so multipurpose. Great for eczema, sensitive skin, etc.

Jojoba Oil - $7.26

Beautysage
Yarok Feed Your Roots Mousse - $16.50/2oz
-I got this to help hold my steam curls better, but it honestly didn't hold them that well. I'll probably just use it as a root volumizer now. I like the ingredients, but it's pricy!

Shea Terra Chocolate Scrub - $12
-Not a fan. The smell, the texture - I'm disappointed.

Skincare Samples
La Bella Figura Holiday Mini Set - $60
-I feel somewhat terrible for posting this because it's sold out, but all of the individual products are still available. The infatuation that other green bloggers have with LBF is justified - I seriously am having a love affair with their products! I always thought $125 was ABSURD for a face oil, and now I'm about to buy the full size of the Barbary Fig Renewal Serum. It's heaven and smells like heaven too. The first time I used the trio, I had just taken a shower and when my mom walked by, she asked if I was burning a candle because it smelled amazing - that's how great they smell!!

Pai Skincare Trial Pack - $15
-I've been really loving the cleanser and the sensitive skin moisturizer. I really think the moisturizer is make my makeup last better through out the day.

One Love Organics Trial Pack - $4.95
-They say 'single use', but for me they definitely aren't! I will probably get at least 3/4 out of the serums. I was most excited to try out the Morning Glory + Love Springs Eternal Serum.

Are you sampling any skincare lately? I've been adding items to my wish list and researching products night and day. Let me know specifically what oils and serum you're currently loving!
