Go Natural: Sunscreen!

My other SUN videos:

Better late than never ;P The goal for this series is for Jen to switch more of her items to natural, and me to help others make the switch with some help from my acquired knowledge about ingredients!

SUN PRODUCTS I RECOMMEND:
*=what I currently use

TYPES OF SUN PROTECTION:
  • "Chemical sunscreen ingredients absorb sunlight preventing sun damage, absorb into your skin, can cause allergic reactions, and burning eyes when perspiring" -Take 30 minutes to work!
  • "Physical ingredients sit on your skin’s surface forming a protective barrier and don’t have the ability to be absorbed into your skin. Light is either absorbed into the ingredient or reflected away from your body back into the atmosphere, similar to a mirror or tin foil"- Effective immediately!

LOOK FOR:
-Physical protection = zinc oxide, titanium dioxide
-UVA + UVB protection (SPF "rating" only protects against UVB rays)
Physical protects both but Zinc protects more
(Active sun protectors will be in the active ingredient section)

AVOID
-Citrus essential oils
-Lavender EO
-Parabens
-Silicones
-Chemical sun ingredients;
  • Avobenzone
  • Homosalate
  • Octisalate
  • Octocrylene
  • Oxybenzone
  • Oxtinoxate
  • Menthyl Anthranilate
  • Oxtocrylene

YES
-Natural butters - shea, cocoa, mango, etc

Natural oils - olive, coconut, avocado, etc

As always, feel free to ask any questions you have or shoot me a list of ingredients via youtube or my email iluvjesse444@me.com for help! Let me know if you decide to purchase any body washes and if you have suggestions for future episodes/posts!

  2. I love coming across these types of articles. During the summer I use sun tan lotion every day and it becomes very annoying. I have heard that All Natural Sunscreen is good for your skin so I think I am going to try that this summer. At least now I know putting it on everyday may make me not age as fast!

  3. I don't know if you'll see this but I was wondering if you've tried The All Natural Face's 'No Sun Lotion' for sunblock? Would you recommend it?
